To do a television news takes a lot of different people working together to make all possible. Below are a list of some of the many different positions that are available.

News Department
Writer: Write the dialog for the anchor, on a certain story, which will air during the newscast.

Videographer: Shoot the video to provide the visual images necessary for a successful television broadcast.

Editor: Put all the video and audio together into a package or clip, preparing it for air.

Returning Member Positions: (In addition to the above positions)

Producer: Producers are responsible for developing the content of the news show. They find the stories that are shown on the BG24 News broadcast. Producers must have a "nose" for news, and they are expected to follow and understand current events. Producers contact sources, write stories, shoot video, edit video, decide what order stories will be presented in, and time their shows. Producers must be highly motivated and dedicated, because it is a high pressure, deadline filled, all-day job.

Reporter: Reporters go out and get the stories that are shown on BG24 News. These stories are found by either the reporters themselves, or by the producers. Reporters should be skilled interviewers, comfortable in dealing with new and different people. They need excellent broadcast writing skills, and should also be able to shoot and edit video. Reporters should be dedicated, ethical journalists with a sense of what makes good news.

Anchor: Anchors are responsible for delivering a show's content live on-the-air. They are the link between the news and the viewing audience. They also assist producers with writing and serve as reporters on local stories. BG24 News Anchors must be comfortable in front of a camera, have likeable on-air personalities, and, above all, be excellent journalists.

Sports Department

Writer: Write stories for sports anchor.

Videographer: Must be available to shoot various athletic events, weekends included.

Editor: Edit highlights for anchors and possibly packages.

Returning Member Positions: (In addition to the above positions)

Reporter: Must be available majority of the day.

Anchor: Sports anchors are responsible for producing your own show as well as delivering the content live on-the-air.

Studio Department

Audio: As an audio board operator, you control the levels of sound throughout the entire show. This includes music levels, VCR levels, and mic levels. Of course it is your main job to make sure the audio is not too loud during the show.

Camera: As a camera operator, you set up the shots in the studio that will go on the air. You will do such tasks as setting up shots, doing camera zooms, key wall shots, and bump moves.

CG Operator (Deko Op): During the show you manually switch to each graphic so that they are ready for air.

Floor Director: You are the eyes of the director during a show. You are basically the director of the talent and studio crew during the show. You follow your directors cues during the entire show and then pass them on to the talent and crew. You cue talent to different camera, stories, video sources, and other things. You also keep the talent up to date on time cues.

Technical Director: As the switcher, you control the video output being put on the air during a broadcast. You switch from multiple different sources, such as, cameras, satellite, still store, and many others. You also do many different effects, as well as putting in all the CG keys through out the show.

Tape/VR Operator: As a tape machine operator, you run all of the different video clips and packages during the show, as well as recording the "air check" copy of the show. Before the show you will need to cue up all of your tapes and ingest them into the VR (Video Recorder/Server) so that they are ready to go for the show. You also run the show open and PSA's.

Returning Member Positions: (In addition to the above positions)

Director: Directors control the show during its live broadcast. They are responsible for combining audio, visual, graphical, and talent sources into a coherent and visually attractive television broadcast. Directors must be able to think and react quickly, and an understanding of all the BG24 News Crew positions is a must.
